Oh, Swell

Seymour Hersh is claiming that Cheney considered a false-flag operation to provoke a war with Iran:

There was a dozen ideas proffered about how to trigger a war. The one that interested me the most was why don’t we build — we in our shipyard — build four or five boats that look like Iranian PT boats. Put Navy seals on them with a lot of arms. And next time one of our boats goes to the Straits of Hormuz, start a shoot-up. Might cost some lives.

And it was rejected because you can’t have Americans killing Americans. That’s the kind of — that’s the level of stuff we’re talking about. Provocation. But that was rejected.

The Troofers will be all over that but once again, this is an Operation Northwoods, where the plan was declined because Americans might die. Far from supporting their kooky ideas this specifically debunks them.

Note: I don't know if the underlying story is true; Hersh has a well-established reputation for making strong accusations in speeches and on TV and then much weaker charges in print.

The Sorry State of Troofer Academia

Well the Journal of 9/11 Studies has all but folded up its tent, Richard "Cardboard Box" Gage is the intellectual voice of the movement, and David Ray Griffin is merely rehashing his old books with decreasing interest even among truthers. Their newest attempt at faux intellectualism is the recent release of The Hidden History of 9-11, edited by Marxist economist Paul Zarembka, featuring works by such scholarly figures as Diana Ralph (PhD, social Work) and former water tester Kevin Ryan.

Well, except, even though this is a new release, the work is not original. A quick check of the title page on Amazon shows the following disclaimer, "Originally published under the title the Hidden History of 9-11-2001, part of the series Research of Political Economy, volume 23, in 2006, by JAI Press an imprint of Elsevier".

Once again, I think I am correct to point out, they have peaked.

Troofer Wars

Jim Fetzer, now firmly in the no planer camp takes on Kevin "Hang 'em all" Barrett, who ironically shares a paranoid radio show with him. I am reminded of the famous Kissinger quote regarding the Iran-Iraq war, "Too bad they can't both lose".

Madison, WI (OpEdNews) July 30, 2008 – A recent dispute between the prominent 9/11 activist, Kevin Barrett, and me, the founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth, has led to the presentation of what I take to be five of the strongest, if not the strongest, arguments for video fakery on 9/11. Indeed, having spent 35 years teaching logic, critical thinking and scientific reasoning, I would describe them as "decisive" in establishing the complicity of the media in misleading the American people about the events of that day. It is a sad commentary on the state of freedom of the press that we now have overwhelming evidence that the mass media – television, in particular – was crucial to the deception.

Barrett, who is running for Congress in Wisconsin's 3rd District as an Independent Libertarian, challenged me to offer stronger and more formal support for my views on video fakery, which have evolved during the past year and a half from skepticism to acceptance. During that time, I conducted more than fifteen interviews with students of video fakery and became convinced by the evidence they produced that there is no reasonable alternative explanation. Ironically, Kevin and I jointly host a radio program, "The Dynamic Duo," on gcnlive.com, where Barrett hosts Mondays and Fridays and I host the rest of the week. The five arguments that I consider to be the most compelling were published in Barrett's Truth Jihad News (July 16, 2008) as follows:

Yeah, he spent 35 years teaching logic and critical thinking, and didn't learn a thing.

Oh Noes! The Media Are On The Truthers' Side!

An amusing effort, somewhat reminiscent of the guy who took the Southpark episode and edited it down to the pro-Troofer portions:

Mainstream Media Admits to 9/11!!! - The most popular videos are a click away

Out of the Office

Well this weekend I am off to Germany for 3 weeks for a secret Bilderburg planning conference, so I probably won't be doing much blogging. We have to decide who the next president is going to be and all. The last time I was out of the country Alex Jones started announcing that Pat and I had a falling out, so I am curious what will happen this time.

Hire Me, or Someone You Have Never Heard of Will Hold a Press Conference

One of the things about the troofers that constantly amuses me is how they view themselves as so important.  The latest example of this is Kevin Barrett getting Bob Bowman to petition the University of Wisconsin to hire him as their own nutty professor.

On Tuesday, July 29th, the head of the "Star Wars" space weapons program under two U.S. presidents, Dr. Robert Bowman, will ask State Legislators to request the re-instatement of Dr. Kevin Barrett as a University of Wisconsin instructor.

Col. Bowman, a rocket scientist with a doctorate from Cal Tech who flew 101 combat missions in Vietnam as a fighter pilot, will present his request to the legislature at a press conference in the State Capitol building, Room 330 Southwest, at 11 a.m. Tuesday 7/29/08.

Kevin Barrett, the target of a 2006 witch-hunt by State Rep. Steve Nass, has not been rehired at UW-Madison, despite his repeated applications for open positions, since he finished teaching his controversial Islam course in fall 2006. His most recent application, for the spring 2008 semester, was rejected in favor of a less-qualified and less-experienced applicant.

Does this actually work for anyone?  I have been turned down for jobs that I think I should have received.  I am going to get someone to hold a press conference on my behalf.

I'll Take Never

I didn't notice that we hadn't heard much this year from the Troofers about their planned festivities for 9-11-08 until Mikey Metz brought it up over at JREF. But apparently the We Are Change kids have big plans for the seventh anniversary. They're billing this as the crucial moment:

They have an astounding budget; nobody can say they don't set their sights high. But so far the donations have not been pouring in:

Hmmm, $22.22? But if we divide that by 2, we get 11.11! 1111! OMG, inside job!

Why Do They Always Screw Up?

Maybe because they do math like this (in the comments):

If travelling to NYC is too hard, consider donating money. I got the following budget from Les Jamieson:

Hire 250 people to gather signatures
@$10/hr for 30 hrs/week for 4 weeks $30,000

10 team leaders for 30 hrs/week
@$15/hr for 4 months $9,000

Now, if Les is really suggesting that as a budget, he's liable to find himself running a little short on funds before the end of the month. Let's work it out bit by bit, shall we? 250 people times $10/hour is $2,500/hour. Times 30 hours per week is $75,000 per week. Times four weeks is $300,000. DOH!

Ten team leaders times 30 hours per week is 300 hours per week. Times $15/hour is $4,500 per week. We'll forgive the obvious "months" versus "weeks" everywhere else, that's still $18,000, not the $9,000 that was claimed.

Note as well that this comment is in a post detailing how a bunch of Troofers from Boston drove down to New York City to gather signatures. I'm not sure of New York law, but in most jurisdictions, petition circulars themselves need to be registered local voters. Not that I anticipate any possibility that these goofballs will succeed in even coming close to the required number of signatures.

Troy Channels Box Boy Gage

It starts out straight but pretty soon Troy puts a little spin on everything. Some very funny moments in there! Definitely stick around for the experiment that changed the world; I almost fell out of my chair laughing.

The ending is unkind, but basically true as far as I know.

Farewell to the Stupid--Errr, Student Scholars

Yet another sign that 9-11 Troof is dying:

I hope that all of your summers are going well. I have some news and am just going to go right into it: During the past year and a half we have accomplished a lot on behalf of demanding justice, accountability, and closure in regard to 9/11. However, 9/11 is part of a much larger picture. A picture that encompasses many forms of government corruption that need to be addressed and brought to the forefront of everyone's consciousness (i.e. election fraud, wars of aggression, domestic spying, torture, etc.).

Accordingly, it is with great enthusiasm that I am announcing to you all that a new organization is in the works, Young American for Accountability (YAFA). This is not to say that we are in any way retreating from our 9/11 activism in any way. What we hope to accomplish with this new organization is to focus on the larger picture and broaden our coverage of issues. We are still going to use similar methods (articles, videos, etc.) in our approach to these issues. We will have a website up and running soon, with a new format that will make it much easier for members to contribute to the site (see 911blogger.com). Most of the articles and videos from sst911.org will be reposted at the YAFA website.

Just a suggestion, here, Justin. How about Young Americans for Accountability?

Update: More "broadening" of coverage of issues by Sofia, creator of 9-11 Mysteries:

The Hardly Boys and the Case of the Stolen Cameras

They think they are being hunted down by a fascist police state, and yet they are not smart enough to put valuables in the trunk of their car.

On July 26, 2008 around 4am Eastern Time WeAreCHANGE members Sabrina Rivera and myself Luke Rudkowski noticed our cars front widow was knocked out. The only missing property inside the car was three WeAreCHANGE cameras with important video footage. It is important to note that I myself was receiving harassing phone calls for the past 24 hours prior to the robbery. The Robbery took place right after a public WeAreCHANGE meeting which Sabrina and myself attended. The following cameras have been taken.

JVC HDD GZ-MG155 - $700

Sony Handycam DCR-HC28 - $300

JVC HDD GZ-HD3 - $850

Along with extended batteries and charges the totally amount of equipment stolen was around $2,000 dollars not including the damages to the car and important video footage yet to be publicly released.

The police have notified us that the person who committed the crime must have watched all of our moves before breaking into the car and stealing the cameras.

Huffington Post Has Published Many Truthers

I am amused to hear this claim from Airiheadda herself:

While there are certain computer technologies that can flag inappropriate comments based on key words, Huff Post Editor in Chief Arianna Huffington says that it still requires a human eye to keep the comments in line with her site’s posting policies.

“There are certain obvious things we have, certain specific things,” says Huffington. “Conspiracy theories — we don’t allow conspiracy theories. If you thought Sept. 11 was caused by the Bush administration, your comment is not going to appear unless it is a mistake.”

Oh, snap, comments! I thought she might mean actual posts, like this 2006 recommendation from a Huffington Post blogger (not some schnook commenter):

I recently watched the film LOOSE CHANGE and couldn't believe what I learned. I thought that I had read and heard everything about 9/11, but I was wrong. This film makes quite a case for an alternate view of what happened on September 11th, 2001.

Or Airhead America founder Sheldon Drobny:

I think that Bill Maher is the most talented political pundit of this generation. Since he decided to exclude the right wing nuts from his show, he speaks with much greater credibility. However, his last show was disappointing to me when he essentially marginalized anyone who has doubts about the official 9/11 story. By focusing only upon the controlled demolition theory of the Twin Towers, he excluded a more viable discussion of the collapse of building # 7 that was not hit by anything but the debris from towers 1 and 2. He further criticized those who have other doubts about the official story by intimating that it is ridiculous to believe that our government would attack its own people.

Michael Shaw was a bit more clever:

If Bush's actions confirm his incompetent, pre-formulated, performance-by-rote, what, in addition, might the craft and composition of the photo indicate? In this moment of extreme crisis; 13 minutes before Flight 77 would slam into the Pentagon; with the atmosphere rife with speculation that numerous highjacks (sic) were in progress, can anybody say there wasn't still time for posing?

Only White House photographer Eric Draper could tell us for sure, but with the President centered in the shot, now seemingly down to business (because the kids must be served -- again); the American flag neatly framed under Dan Bartlett's arm; Bartlett, at that very moment, happening to point out the replay of the WTC attack (as if to say, we're on it!); Deborah Loewer, director of the White House Situation Room, doing her situationing perfectly situated behind the boss; and with the two suits to the left standing at attention and ready for action, I'd say this scene is strangely burdened by the sense of what it is supposed to look like.

Italics in original. They had that photo planned for months!

When Bill Clinton denounced the Troofers, the Huffpo posted the YouTube Video. And then a whole lot of mistakes seemed to happen at once, as the comments got through:

I truly believe History will look back at this National Tragedy in awe and disbelief that the unanswered questions and seemingly inexplicable fact that both towers of the World Trade Center were collapsed in as near a perfect example of controlled demolition as possible went unexplored.

2 things.....1) no one wrote anything about planes not hitting the towers yet people just assume that's what's in question....that's intentional disinformation 2) Ever since 9/11, I keep seeing people in comment sections and blogs saying they saw the plane hit the pentagon or their relative or whatever. I swear, you'd think there was a million people surrounding the Pentagon that day. Also total BS and disinformation.

Those who ask questions and demand open discussion and debate about what happened on 9/11 are not the conspiracy theorists. Those who have sold us a story about 19 young men with box cutters being able to get through the best defense system in history have concocted a conspiracy theory of their own. HOW DARE Bill Clinton humiliate and intimidate someone who believes that this administration could be responsible for death and destruction.....Duh!

Those are just 3 of the top 6 comments on that post.

So the idea that the HuffnPuffers police themselves well is absurd. Kos does a much better job even though his site is not perfect.

British Kooks Shield Psycho Mom

I hope this story turns out okay, but it's still unresolved as of now. A German woman named Natalie Bracht apparently emigrated to England with her five daughters. She started acting a little nutty and the authorities became concerned for her children's well-being. An interim care order was issued, but before it could be enforced, she and the kids had fled.

At some point she began talking to the British Truthers and they apparently became involved in shielding her. She claims that she knows that the London Tube bombings of 7/7/05 did not involve Muslims, and that there is going to be an attack on American soil in Ireland (this doesn't make much sense unless she's talking about an embassy) in order to do something. She mixes in a lot of talk about Israel. Tony Gosling, who is a bigwig in the UK 9-11 fruitcakes (and a Bilderberger nutbar as well) interviewed her; if you can make heads or tales out of her claims you're better than I. But of course the nutbars are all in solidarity with her. Gosling was later detained and his home searched; of course the Truthers get their panties twisted over that, never mind that if the woman does an Andrea Yates they'll probably natter about how they should have done more to save the kids.

Natalie Bracht's parents plead for her to turn herself in. Even Gosling suggests that she's gone far enough, although he turns around in the next breath and hopes that she's managed to escape to Holland.

Taibbi on the Truthers

I still haven't gotten a promo copy of his book (hint, hint), but here's his take on the reaction from the nutters:

The Truthers, on the other hand… [Laughs.] I think they're probably the most self-Googling sliver of humanity on the planet. The instant you write anything about them, your e-mail is flooded with letters. I haven't gotten a single positive reaction from anybody who's a self-described Truther.

AVC: You'd think a movement devoted to seeking truth would encourage debate as a way to arrive at the truth, rather than trying to suppress whatever doesn't already align with their own views.

MT: Absolutely. I make this point with Truthers all the time, that the whole direction of everything they do is the opposite of what finding out the truth is. They approach the subject matter in much the same way a defense attorney does. A defense attorney takes a case and he sees six pieces of evidence that are going to convict his client, and he sets out to destroy those six pieces of evidence, irrelevant to the actual truth of the situation. That's not to denigrate defense attorneys, but that's what they do. It's exactly the same thing that Truthers do. They just take the 9/11 Commission Report piece by piece, and they try to break down links in that evidentiary chain that compose the official story, but they never really try to find out what happened. They're just trying to convince you that the official story couldn't possibly be true. For instance, the stuff about Hani Hanjour—the hijacker who reportedly made that maneuver into the Pentagon. They're really hopped up about the fact that he was a bad pilot and couldn't have made that sophisticated maneuver. But they make absolutely no effort to tell you what actually did happen. They're like, "Oh, it could have been a remote-controlled plane." Offhandedly, they'll say that. [Laughs.] Like that's a very simple thing. It's really weird.

Kooks Misread Newspaper Article

What a bunch of fruitcakes. A poster at 9-11 Flogger writes breathlessly that the prosecutor in the trial against Osama Bin Laden's driver, "admits Flight 93 shot down". He quotes this part:

"If they hadn't shot down the fourth plane it would've hit the dome," Stone, a Navy officer, said in his opening remarks.

Well, that certainly caught my attention, and so I went to the linked Reuters article and found, that as usual, it was a quote mine:

The two men were looking at a magazine which described the flight routes of the September 11 hijacked planes, Soufan said.

"If they didn't shoot that fourth plane it would have hit the dome," Soufan said bin Laden told Zawahiri, according to Hamdan's account.

Bolding added for emphasis. So it's Bin Laden who thought the fourth plane was shot down, not the prosecutor.

If you want to know why nobody gives you any respect, Troofers, it's because of crap like this that can be debunked in ten seconds. Kudos to Jon Gold (in the comments over there) who didn't fall for the story, and a raspberry to Reprehensor, who seems to think this quote mine is valid.

Nico's Tee Shirts

Man, what can I say? The "Truthers" are giving us nothing to work with lately. Nico's selling TV Fakery Tees. They do seem a tad on the pricey side, but I'm sure discounts are available if you buy in bulk.

The Winter Garden and the World Financial Center

Another one of Ref's terrific posts on the other buildings that sustained damage on 9-11. He really does a terrific job with these, and if you haven't read them before, check out the links to the earlier posts at the bottom. Highly recommended!

Okay, I am Bored.

When we first started this blog, people commented that it was a good choice to take on the troofers, as there was a lot of material. Unfortunately they are dying out, and doing so little of merit that there is not much to write about currently. Heck, Dylan Avery is reduced to posting short reviews of The Dark Knight on the Loose Change blog. Come on guys, do something! Bring Sofia back and have her make noises with her mouth, get Richard Gage some more cardboard boxes, come out with another Dylan Avery production claiming the hijackers are still alive based of off 7 year old news reports. Do something!

Oh well, it is summer. I am going to pick up some beer and a stack of Rib Eyes and have a BBQ.

Newly Noted: Idiot Wars

Our longtime buddy Markyx pointed this out at the JREF forums and Idiot Wars is definitely worth a look. As you would probably guess, it's aimed squarely at Alex Jones, but I was pleased to see that their "Idiot of the Week" is my old sparring partner and NAU fruitcake Jerome Corsi.

McNinney Mentions Troofers in Newsweek Interview

Not much here:

Also, I would make public the papers pertaining to certain tragedies in the life of our country, like the JKF assassination, Martin Luther King Jr., and the 9/11 Truth Movement-I would release everything the Bush administration knew about September 11. One more thing I would do is begin the process of putting into place a Department of Peace. It would be wonderful to rename the Department of State as the Department of Peace and have our ambassadors go around the world with a mission…to begin their engagement in the world based on human rights and peace.

84% Watch

As they said in a previous post, they are a juggernaut!

The Legalize 9/11 Truth Ride is a weekly ride for 9/11 Truth on the boardwalk of San Diego's beaches. We meet at 4:00pm every Sunday at the end of Diamond Street in Pacific Beach. This event is in its fourth week, and we have already doubled in size.

Well, I guess going from 3 to 6 is technically double...

Blackfive Takes On Balsamo & Co.

Wow, that's gotta hurt:

Their forums are all alike - Loose Change, Pentacon, Pilots for 9/11 Truth, Architects for 9/11 Truth, Veterinarians for 9/11 Truth, Proctologists for 9/11 Truth, Limo Drivers for 9/11 Truth, Truck Drivers for 9/11 Truth, whatever. They'll ban anyone in a heartbeat if you make any sort of counter-factual argument and their reason will be "Debate in the discussion forum!" or "Discussion in the debate forum!" or "Saying stuff we don't like!". Debate is impossible with them. Facts to them are "government lies" and even personal experience is nothing more than "lies" coming from a "government shill". Anything - ANYTHING that does not conform to their warped view of things is a lie and if you do not conform to their warped view of things, you are a liar.

Gage Continues to Flog the 1000 Architects Idea

Yet another fiasco waiting to happen:

The first mention I can find of this idea here at SLC was on May 29, when the number of Architects and (Electrical) Engineers was at 395. Today, 51 days later, it's at 410. You would have to be retarded to believe that number will grow to 1000 by September 11, 2008. Realistically they have no chance to reach 500; my best guess is that they'll be at 425 or so.

Why do they set themselves up to fail like this? I suspect because they really believe that 84% of the population are "Truthers". Let's remember, these are the people who thought Ron Paul was going to win the Republican nomination handily (and they probably still think he has a chance at the convention).

The juggernaut thing itself (first appears about 1:30 into the film) is pretty cool; looks like something out of the comic books.

How Can You Tell If A "Truther" Is Lying?

Our buddy Walter Ego did some real digging on the pair of goofballs who walked from Denver to Washington DC last year, and discovered that Truth Rising somehow missed telling us the whole story:

I have heard but not seen confirmed that one of the idiot walkers ended up losing custody of his kid over this stunt. Yet another Troofer who tossed away his life in pursuit of the big nothing.

Troofers Finally Show Some Outrage!

One of the many things about the "Truth" movement that always bugs me is their use of the word alleged. Alleged is a word that appears to have been created by newspaper lawyers to keep them out of libel suits. They can say "It is alleged that OJ Simpson killed his wife," and not be liable.

But the Troofers, who feel free to libel anybody they don't like, obviously aren't afraid of lawsuits. And yet they sprinkle in the word alleged to indicate their disagreement with the "official" story. We hear of "alleged Flight 11" and "alleged passengers" and "alleged hijackers" as if the goofs were actually afraid that Mohammed Atta is still alive and going to sue them if they malign his good name.

Well, one nutbar finally had enough of this "alleged" crap, and it's a significant person in the movement: Reprehensor, the guy who runs 9-11 Blogger. One problem though; it's apparently only one particular use of "alleged" that bugs him:

Stating that Lorie Van Auken's husband was "allegedly killed when the north tower was demolished" is disgusting.

Yes, you finally get it, you pathetic creep. This is exactly how we feel when we hear David Ray Griffin blather on about "alleged cell phone calls" and "alleged Flight 77".

How Could Anybody Think They Blame the Jooooos?

A week or so back I linked to a New York Times review of The Reflecting Pool, a "fictional" movie about 9-11 conspiracy theories. One of the things the reviewer said (jokingly) was that the collapse of WTC-7 was covered up by:

...a complicit, propaganda-foisting media/industrial complex in the pocket of the Bush administration and the Jews and the oil industry!

Well, the director could not let this anti-Semitic claim go unanswered:

I am particularly disturbed by Mr. Lee’s injection of the Jews as culprits in the 9/11 tragedy. Which Jews is he referring to? The Ashkenazi? The Sephardic ones? The Orthodox? Perhaps the Chasidic? Such deliberate generalization is nothing but a cheap shot at discrediting my script as anti-Semitic. Had Mr. Lee paid any reasonable attention to the plot, he surely would have picked up a nice tidbit of information, which incidentally came from a Fox News source, that Israel’s Mossad issued a specific warning to the Bush Administration about the planned terrorist attacks on American soil prior to 9/11.

Bolding added for emphasis.

Well, as usual with the Troofers, that's not the case. Here's the Fox News story that Kupsc is presumably referring to.

Based on its own intelligence, the Israeli government provided "general" information to the United States in the second week of August that an Al Qaeda attack was imminent.

"General" information is not a "specific warning". I'm not in the business of trying to tell the Troofers how to run their movement, but I will give them one piece of advice. Leave out any mention of Israel and the Mossad. Maybe you're simply reporting the facts. And maybe, just maybe, you're sending a nod and a wink to the Carol A. Valentines and Eric Hufschmids of the world. Nobody outside of your movement is going to give you the benefit of the doubt on that issue.

The Craziest Theory Yet?

Kudos to our buddy Triterope who put this together. Meet David Wynn Miller. Or is that :David-Wynn:Miller?

"My name is David hyphen Wynn full colon Miller," the 53-year-old Milwaukean says, and the brows of his audience of 50 begin to furrow. This crowd of "Patriots" is used to conspiracy theories, but even at an event dominated by antigovernment ideology, Miller is tough going. "The reason I use a full colon and a hyphen in my name, the first full colon, which is full colon David, it means for the David hyphen Wynn. That's my given name, and it's also a noun, because it uses a prepositional phrase. ... Because I use prepositional phrases, through punctuation, which is classified as hieroglyphics, which makes me a life, l-i-f-e. Now, when you don't punctuate your name... David is an adjective, Wynn is an adjective, Miller is a pronoun. Two adjectives are a condition of modification, opinion, presumption, which modifies the pronoun, pro means no on noun. So therefore, I'm not a fact. I'm a fiction."

Sounds like Louis Farrakhan in some of his less lucid moments. Miller has a theory about the World Trade Center that makes Steven Jones and Richard Gage look almost sane:

When the Sept. 11 attacks occurred, the Center towers collapsed in six seconds, Miller says, not the 12 seconds it would have taken normal matter. Plus, all the concrete turned to dust. Having discovered the "mathematical interface that all steel is plastic" some years back, Miller understands perfectly what "the physics of plastic" is trying to tell him: A magnetic pulse brought down the towers.

What creates a magnetic pulse? C-4 plastic explosive. Who has C-4? The military. Who controls the military? The post office.

And there you have it. Postal authorities sneaked into the towers, replacing all chairs, tables and file cabinets with plastic furniture. Explosive plastic furniture. The steel in the building well, that was plastic steel, and it was utterly destroyed by the C-4, which is only capable of destroying other plastic "polymers."

"That's what gave us certification that it was an inside job," Miller explains.

At the moment of collapse, $12 trillion was transferred electronically from the basement of the trade center to Singapore. "The World Trade Center was a bank robbery," Miller reveals, "very cleverly engineered."

It's admitted, as Alex Jones would say. Now you might think that the Southern Poverty Law Center (where this article is located) has been unfair in describing Miller's thesis, but here he or one of his devotees (scroll down to blueymorgan's post) explains it:

After watching Soooooo many videos on the subject, have any of you measured the amount of time it took for the buildings to fall, from the time they actually began to fall,.............6.2 seconds.......Impossible!! Under normal circumstances of demolition and using the figures for gravity, those buildings should have taken over 12 seconds to reach ground zero, so obviously anyone in the running for the millionaire's money should give up now. Why? Your'e all using the explosion theory! Turn off your TV's and think for yourselves for a change.
Oh, by the way, did anyone notice the only thing floating down from the buildings was paper, but no furniture nor filing cabinets that held that paper, nor were there any found amid the wreckage?
Add to this, the extra buildings in the WTC complex, which collapsed within the next 24 hours, due to the structural integrity of those same buildings being compromised due to the same EM pulse, (which by the way, took approximately 5 milliseconds)
So take a back seat and listen up................GRAVITY WAS REMOVED from the equation using EM technology, which has been tested, AND has been Congress approved!!!
Technology,... which does not belong to a person sitting in a cave in Afghanistan.
The planes were there for the worldwide audience to get angry, and point a finger at whoever they told you to get angry at!

Now, you're probably seeing a few flaws in that argument, one of which gets pointed out immediately by "Howard Roark":

Well if gravity was removed from the equation, then how come the towers fell down?

And here is where it really gets bananas:

It really amazes me that most people on this planet cannot fathom the english language.
Don't you realise that gravity also holds things UP as well as bring things down.....didn't pass physics at school huh?

! But it continues:

Four weeks before the event took place, a very significant amount of world-shattering events took place under everyone's nose without a whimper from the press, and they were:
~1. The towers were purchased by the Port Authority of New York, which of course is run by the Post Office. (check, if you don't believe)
~2. Most of the furniture in both buildings was changed to new and very ornate plastic stuff. (Why?)
~3. The day before the event, postal-inspectors were to commandeer the $30 billion in gold bullion, plus the $12 Trillion in bank credits, (stored in the WTC) as part payment on a $400 Billion lawsuit which the U.S. government was ordered to pay to the World Court.

Wow, that's a trifecta of stupid. The buildings were leased by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to Larry Silverstein and his partners. The Port Authority is not run by the Post Office; that's ridiculous.

Second, nobody has presented me with any evidence that most of the furniture in both buildings was changed to new and very ornate plastic stuff. You have to consider the enormous size of these buildings. This is not moving around the furniture in your living room, we're talking about tens of thousands of desks, cubicles, filing cabinets, etc.

And that $400 billion judgment story sure sounds like it's James' old buddy Ambassador Leo Wanta.

Miller has his own website here, but if you can make heads or tails of it you're better than I.

Update: More Miller insanity here on the tax protesting theme:

It is important that you know what really happened when I used so-called technology by Miller.

At my hearing for arraignment and plea February 17, 1998, I used the "flag" issue and the approach that I would not join with the court pursuant to F.R.Civ.P. 12(b)(7). That day I left court having not joined with the court. However, the following day I was arrested by U. S. Marshals and incarcerated at Halawa State Prison with the presumed threat that I would be held as a threat to the state if I did not submit to the court's jurisdiction.

Prior to my arrest on Friday the 19th of 1998, I filed a "Title 42 Action" that was advocated by Miller. He will say that this is passe' now, but the reason I mention it was the fact that in a subsequent hearing the U. S. Prosecutor noted it and said that it was incomprehensible. Nothing else transpired other than the fact that I let the "42" action time lapse. Reason? Number one I could foresee it being held against me as a identified "tax protestor" as well as an activist for pure water in Hawaii locally, and the fact that I had been involved in many other initiatives regarding the return to Constitutional Rule of Law by the government. [My group was known as the "Phoenix Project Committee of 50 States" and aligned with Joe Stumph out of Utah. Morris Dees, a Khazarian Zionist B'nai B'rith Mosad agent, SUBVERSIVE, of the "Souther Poverty Law Center" (I am sure dedicated to perpetuation of "poverty" using law as a method to insure its existence [READ R. BUCKMINSTER FULLER'S GRUNCH OF GIANTS, ST. MARTIN PRESS, 1983]) identified our "group" as a militia support group in a document regarding what he identified as "terrorist organizations."]. The second reason was that I had seen the irrationality of the idea that I would ever prevail in any of the controlled Zionist courts. It is impossible at this time but may be appropriate as we uncover the lies.

Note: It appears that page is written by a tax protesting nut who finds Miller nutty.

Idiotic Parents for 9/11 Truth

Maybe you could help your kid out by teaching him how to capitalize properly?

i dont want my kid to make another darn volcano that spews vinegar all over the high school gymnasium again. we are becoming infamous in the local community for stinking up the gym...not a good thing!so i thought that maybe someone could explain to me how to make a small scale representation of how the towers crumbled on 911 with the physics involved in that.maybe i can try it in my kitchen first since the heat of jet fuel and the heat i use to boil my water for tea and cocoa are about the same temperature.is there something i am doing wrong? because i have never had my oven vaporize into dust from boiling water for my cocoa.maybe someone can share with me some pointers so i can help my kid do an educational display of the physics of 911?

Robin Hordon: All Four Planes Should Have Been Shot Down

A more classic example of believing that everybody on 9-11 should have reacted the way they would have on 9-12 is hard to imagine.

Interceptor pilots are highly skilled, very well refined, incredibly disciplined, and highly patriotic defenders of this country who have had training in air-to-air combat. These folks are the top of the top. Perhaps some have had actual experiences in dog fights in the first Gulf War. They are professional killers who who have received training about when to shoot, and when not to shoot. As this treacherous formation flight was headed straight towards NYC, and continued its descent to unreasonably low altitudes as the formation approached Manhattan, the interceptor pilots KNEW what may be in store for them. A possile shootdown of an airliner was in the cards...whether or not they had approvals from higher authorities.

Whether its a hijack, an IN FLIGHT EMERGENCY, a lost or disoriented aircraft, or for an aircraft with ANY other reason for NOT following the orders of a US interceptor flying alongside the cockpit, the interceptor pilots have one basic responsibility...to protect the persons, property and security of the USofA. Please do not be fooled by any other rhetoric or cover-up.

Just as a policeman has bullets and strict protocols as when and why to pull the trigger WITHOUT immediate and direct consultation and approval from higher authorities, so do the interceptor pilots have missles and strict protocols as to when and why to fire those missles WITHOUT immediate and direct approval from higher authorities. When the US Military tells you otherwise, they are lying to cover up their failures. An interceptor pilot knows what to do...a policeman knows what to do...its their chosen professions.

Horden focuses on the supposed changed military policy in mid-2001.

In Bob's statement he points out that existing NORAD scramble protocol "preferences" that were in place BEFORE the subtle "reference and reorganizational" change made in the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Instruction CJCSI 3610.01A organizational made in June, 2001, would have served to have the airliners intercepted and shot down BEFORE they reached their targets.

But this is wrong. CJCSI 3610.01A replaced CJCSI 3610.01. You can see the old order here. And the idea that the planes could have been shot down is wrong, as this snippet shows:

a. General. Military personnel will provide the following types of
support: intercept, surveillance, lift, equipment, and communications. personnel may not participate in a search, seizure, arrest, or other similar activity. This restriction would include the apprehension of aircraft hijackers or use of military
aircraft (fixed-wing or helicopter) or other vehicles as platforms for gunfire or the use of other weapons against suspected hijackers.

Help, Help, I'm Being Repressed!

Extracted forcibly via waterboarding from Truth Rising by FEMA Camp Warden Walter Ego:

Guardian Takes on Troofers

Once again showing this is a non-partisan issue, the left oriented UK newspaper the Guardian takes on the nutjobs, in a rather humorous editorial:

And when repeatedly pressed on that one, basic, overall point - that a conspiracy this huge would be impossible to pull off - they huff and whine and claim that unless you've sat through every nanosecond of Loose Change (the conspiracy flick du jour) and personally refuted every one of its carefully spun "findings" before their very eyes, using a spirit level and calculator, you have no right to an opinion on the subject.

Oh yeah? So if my four-year-old nephew tells me there's a magic leprechaun in the garden I have to spend a week meticulously peering underneath each individual blade of grass before I can tell him he's wrong, do I?

More Evidence! Inside Job! 1111111!

McNinney Gets Green Party Nod

The Truthers have their candidate.

McKinney, 53, held off three rivals to win the party's nomination during its convention in Chicago, Illinois. She picked journalist and activist Rosa Clemente as her running mate.

Green Party spokeswoman Scott McLarty acknowledged McKinney was a "long shot" for the White House, but said, "Every vote that she gets helps the Green Party."

Update: Nico points us to some interesting information on McKinney. In 1992, McKinney's office apparently paid $23 to a man named Khaled Elgindy in 2002 (Elgindy was a staffer on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and McKinney must have used him for something that required reimbursement). There are claims that Elgindy worked for McKinney on a regular basis, but I can find no record of that in the congressional salaries database.

Khaled Elgindy's brother is Amr (Tony) Elgindy, who was once accused by prosecutors of attempting to inside trade on foreknowledge of the 9-11 attacks.

In a court hearing in San Diego, Kenneth Breen, an assistant United States attorney, said the adviser, Amr Ibrahim Elgindy, tried to sell $300,000 in stock on the afternoon of Sept. 10 and told his broker that the stock market would soon plunge. ''Perhaps Mr. Elgindy had preknowledge of Sept. 11, and rather than report it he attempted to profit from it,'' Mr. Breen said.

Let me point out two things here. First, every single day of every year there are thousands of people who are convinced that the stock market will soon plunge. It is only when the market does plunge that those people look prescient (or complicit).

And second, this accusation was made as Amr Elgindy was on trial for insider trading based on tips he was getting from an FBI agent--not about 9-11 but about companies that the FBI was investigating, and whose stock would inevitably take a hit when that became public.

I don't think there's anything there to implicate McKinney, and the charge about foreknowledge on Elgindy's part is probably just hype from an overzealous prosecutor. But Troofers have made a whole lot more of even less tenuous connections than that.

Truthers Like Corpse Gas

I like this analogy:

Rather like corpse gas, a fresh batch of skewed thinking has lately bubbled up from the depths due to the imminent release of a draft report from the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology on the collapse of 7 World Trade Center during the 9/11 attacks.

NY Times Reviews Reflecting Pool

Quite well, I might add:

The problem with “The Reflecting Pool,” an investigative drama that mucks around with 9/11 conspiracy theories, is not that its ideas are silly. Strictly from an imaginative point of view, there is something unnerving about the weirdly elegant way the towers fell. And not just the north and south buildings but also the adjacent 7 World Trade Center, a smaller edifice, suffering much less damage, that collapsed in an identical manner but received far less coverage from — what’s the phrase I’m looking for? — oh yes: a complicit, propaganda-foisting media/industrial complex in the pocket of the Bush administration and the Jews and the oil industry!

Heheh.

Another Stupid List

The troofers like making lists, if only because it gives them a pretense to science and some sort of system which is otherwise lacking in their approach. I find them interesting for another reason though, to quote the film The Russia House:

I don't like lists, Clive. Lists tell you too much about the people who make them.

In that spirit, here is a list by Kevin Barrett, supposedly of 30 pieces of good news in the recent BBC show on WTC7. I am not going to list them all, but some bizarre highlights:

7) Barry Jennings was told while in WTC 7 “Get out of there, get out of there now”, which sounds very suspicious.

Uhh, why exactly is it suspicious to tell someone to get out of a building which has already been evacuated?

15) WTC 7 was the only steel-framed building ever alleged to fall from fire damage.

So the other steel-framed buildings which fell from fire were never alleged to have been?

Now check out these two consecutive ones:

16) All the steel from WTC 7 was taken away to be melted down.
17) One large piece of partially evaporated steel from WTC 7 was saved and is
shown.

If all the steel was taken away, how was it saved?

Fruitcakes At McCain Townhall

Covered by the fruitcakes over at Raw Story.

"Now, many Americans believe that that 'new Pearl Harbor' event took place on 9/11," the questioner went on, as McCain grimaced slightly. "And according to a recent New York Times and CBS News poll, 84% of Americans believe that there were some criminal elements of our government involved in 9/11."

Calls of disapproval began to arise from the audience, but the questioner shot back, "Hold on!" and continued asking McCain, "Can you tell us about your role as -- hold on -- as president of the 'New Citizen Project,' founded in 1994, which served as a chief fund-raising and parent organization to PNAC? And is this one of the factors that has made you so reluctant to support the victims' family members and first responders who are begging for a new investigation into 9/11?"

Ah, yes, the usual misrepresentation of that old poll. In fact, only 28% of the respondents in that poll thought the government was mostly lying about 9-11, and even that seems to be quite an outlier. To get the 84%, they're lumping in those who felt the Bush Administration "are mostly telling the truth but hiding something" and even the "undecideds". I don't think the kooks agree that the Bush Administration was "mostly telling the truth", with the possible exception of Jon (I'm all over the map) Gold.

McCain quite sensibly tells the questioner that he was one of the sponsors of the legislation to create the 9-11 Commission and that he's proud of the work they did.

Which Will Come First?

Richard Gage getting his 1000th Architect or Engineer, or the NYC Ballot Initiative getting its 100,000th signature?

Nearly 20,000 NYC voters have already signed the petition to create this public referendum. Many 9/11 family members, first responders, and peace organizations also support this campaign.

Remember, Les Jamieson's goal was to have 100,000 signatures by June 30.

Run, Jesse, Run!

Jake Tapper reports that Troofer Jesse Ventura is considering a run for the US Senate from Minnesocold:

In an interview with NPR's David Welna that ran today former Gov. Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Ind-Minn., sounds like he may run for Senate, challenging incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., whom Ventura defeated for governor in 1998, as well as Democratic nominee and former Saturday Night Live humorist Al Franken.

Ventura, born Jim Janos, tells Welna that the main reason he would run is because of Coleman's support for the war in Iraq. "That's the reason I run," he says. "I run because it angers me...All you Minnesotans take a good hard look at all three of us. And you decide: if you were in a dark alley which one of the three of us would you want with you?

I cannot imagine anything that would add more hilarity and suck up more Troofer dollars than a Jesse Ventura run for the Senate.

Gage actually repeats his bizarre insistence that they will have 1,000 members by September 11th of this year, despite only having added 3 over the last month. If you do the math this puts them on pace for January of 2023. Sorry, I don't intend to be blogging about this subject that long.

Sometimes a Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

I listened to an Alex Jones rant tonight (he still can't figure out how to pronounce Uzbekistan) where he once again proclaimed the troofers have a majority of Americans on their side. So I was amused to see this post, along with an accompaning picture:

The first ever Northwest Truth Convergence took place as planned on July 5th at the Peace Arch Border crossing. Despite some rain and gusting winds, it was well attended and supported by groups from Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, Victoria and Nanaimo, BC as well as Bellingham, Seattle and the Puget Sound area in Washington State.

Yeah, wow. I don't know why they didn't call in the National Guard to handle those massive crowds. Keep in mind that these are groups from several different geographical areas. I hope they at least carpooled.

The 101st Fighting Keyboardists

I see that a bunch of people are now following Alex Jones' lead and assuming that our membership in the 101st Fighting Keyboardists blog group means that we're CentCom. And we would have gotten away with it if we hadn't pasted that logo in our sidebar. DOH!

Actually the story behind that is pretty simple. James and I started this blog on May 1, 2006. Right about the same time, Captain's Quarters, a major conservative blog, started an alliance of bloggers who were in support of the war in Iraq. So I signed us up. The result that we got linked at hundreds of blogs by the term "Screw Loose Change", which effectively was a massive Google Bomb which vaulted us up to the first page of the Google rankings for the term "Loose Change".

I have no connection with military whatsoever, other than the one that all American citizens should have: An appreciation for the work they do to make us safe.

What Does Jon Gold Believe?

I honestly don't know. He argues that 9-11 Truth isn't just about controlled demolition, or a missile hit the Pentagon, but that it includes "just asking questions" and air quality issues. But at the same time, he believes "elements of the government were complicit in the attacks."

More than any other Truther, he hides behind the family members (particularly the Jersey Girls). When asked to explain his theory on Opie & Anthony several years ago, Jon started in with some story about how Bin Laden's brother was involved in some arranged marriage scheme, but the federal government flew him out of the country while the rest of the country was unable to fly. Of course, this latter bit is wrong; the Bin Ladens left the country after the flight ban was lifted.

In this video, he asks people to get angry, not that the Troofers need much help with that.

Let's track the claims made:

1. "Elements of the government were complicit in the attacks."

2. "There are elected officials in government today who know the truth and don't speak it."

3. "The media is (sic) well aware of the deception and they don't bother to cover it."

(An aside: Gold asks why the President did not want an investigation to reveal what happened, so that they could take steps to make sure it never happened again. Of course, Gold is making the usual Troofer mistake of assuming the 9-11 Commission was the investigation. It was not. And the government did take steps to make sure it never happened again, as revealed by the fact that it has not happened again.)

Well, you can already see the problem, right? Despite Gold's swearing up and down that he's not an evidence guy, he's already accused unnamed elected officials and the entire media of being in on the cover-up.

Update: Here are some videos Gold made to counter the BBC's claim that they were about to answer the final unanswered questions about 9-11:

As you can see, it's mostly procedural questions. It's not hard to understand why the administration might not want to answer those.

As you can see here, Gold is reduced to doubting quotes from the administration and pushing the "there were plenty of warnings" crap.

In this one, Gold actually pushes the pathetic "DeMasi and Bellone found the Flight Data Recorders at the WTC line". One more time, Johnny:

FIRE MARSHALS ARRESTED a self-proclaimed "honorary firefighter" for allegedly touring the country with pilfered FDNY gear to promote a 9/11 book, officials said yesterday.

Michael Bellone, 51, of Brooklyn, who volunteered at Ground Zero and later collaborated on a book about the experience, showed off the equipment during speeches to schoolchildren, authorities said.

After fielding complaints, FDNY investigators questioned Bellone and discovered that a breathing mask, air tank and other gear he was using had been missing from the department since October 2001, officials said.

BBC WTC 7 Documentary Hits The Mark

Wow. What a terrific job they did on this episode of Conspiracy Files; I'm thoroughly blown away. In the first half I thought they were almost too sympathetic to the Troofers, giving them a lot of airtime. But this decision to be more rigorously fair than most shows on the movement actually turned out to be justified by the incredible amount of evidence they presented to debunk the loons.

There are so many good moments in the show that I know I'm going to miss a couple but here are a few favorites:

1. The footage of WTC 7 and the lobby after the first tower collapsed. It's one thing to read Peruggia's account; it's quite another to see it firsthand. Remember, WTC-7 was at least partially shielded from the South Tower by the North Tower. An amazing amount of damage and unbelieveable amount of dust and debris.

2. Chief Nigro's statement that the conspiracy theories are obscene. Amen.

3. Mark Loiseaux noting that thermite is far too unpredictable in timing for his demolitions.

4. The explanation for the building's collapse. I had leaned towards the diesel fuel being pumped into the building and the transfer trusses. Of course the Troofers will go nuts on this because they will continue to deny that there were significant fires in the buildings.

5. Hearing the Hardfire "Live Free or Die" song starting up in the background. That got a laugh from me. Good point by Mark about how the Truthers never put their nonsense into a coherent account.

Terrific production! I have heard that this program will be airing in the US at some point in September. I highly recommend it. I commented that the History Channel special was Hiroshima for the Truthers; this was more like letting the air slowly out of their balloon.

Another Meaningless Digression to Annoy Our Critics

Here's something I dug out a cardboard box about five years ago:

Christmas 1984, back visiting my folks with my gf at the time, we stop off near the Statue of Liberty and this guy is selling pen and ink of the Lower Manhattan Skyline. I'm a real estate guy and the artwork looks pretty good, so I part with the $20.

I tell people all the time that they cannot imagine how big the WTC towers were. From my best friend's house in high school you could see them, 25 miles away; it was the only part of the NY skyline that was visible, and at that distance they were finally tiny.

Yes, they were not particularly attractive or interesting, especially compared to the Chrysler Building or the Empire State Building. But they were immense. No WTC-7 because it wasn't built then; obviously neither was the World Financial Center.

The Independent on the BBC WTC7 Special

A short but excellent article, the author of which is very familiar with the truther mindset, so he obviously is in on the conspiracy.

Imagine an infection that actually feeds on the only antibiotic available to counter it and you have some measure of the problem in dealing with conspiracy theories. When conspiracists encounter solid evidence against their favoured scenario, they have only two options available to them. They can compromise their religious belief in the narrative they've constructed, or they can simply enlarge it, extending the conspiracy so that, amoeba-like, it absorbs this irritating foreign body and digests it whole. Almost invariably, they choose the latter, and The Conspiracy Files: 9/11 – the Third Tower, a film about the collapse of World Trade Centre Building 7, offered several choice examples of the process. What conspiracists believe about Building 7 is that it was deliberately destroyed, brought down by a pre-planned explosion so that the evidence proving government complicity in the events of 9/11 would be shredded. They base their conviction on footage of the collapse, in which it does indeed look as if the building has been brought down by controlled demolition. They then shore up this ill-informed impression with oddities picked from the rubble of that day – passing remarks, inaccuracies in the news coverage, fragments of debris – all of them carefully sifted and separated from their context so that their larger meaning is obscured. And woe betide you if you suggest that the resulting collage is implausible in any way.

And he obviously is aware of what their response is going to be, with this parting comment:

Incidentally, if you're minded to send me a long email denouncing my gullibility and directing me to websites offering incontrovertible proof that Dick Cheney did it, don't bother. As you may already have guessed, I'm in on it, too.

New Fad Sweeps Nation: Truthercise!

Richard Gage, branching out from the declining 9-11 Truth fare that he's concentrated his efforts on for the last year, creates Truthercise:

Alex Jones, never one to allow a dollar to remain in his listener's pockets when it could be his, counters with Sweating to the Truthers:

Truth Retching Review

Alex Jones' new film arrived Friday night but I forgot all about it until today. No surprise, it breaks little new ground. It mostly amounts to a mash note to Luke Rudkowski, who gets star treatment. Andy Warhol was right.

There are some very funny bits. Alex focuses for awhile on these two guys walking across America for 9-11 Troof and against the war, and how the nasty cops keep harassing them. So, 3-4 incidents later (none of which end with them in the local hoosegow), we finally get an idea of why these guys might be getting a little extra attention from The Man. Turns out they're wearing orange jumpsuits and declining to provide ID while walking along the side of the highway. Jeez, can't imagine how that might arouse suspicion!

The focus is mostly on "The family members have questions" and "the air wasn't safe", which I suppose we should take as a victory. Yeah, there are a couple minor bits of true nutopia that Alex gives credence to. For example, countdown boy Kevin McPadden gets another minute or two to tell us the fourth--or is it the fifth--version of his story? Hilariously, it's still "I was standing next to Amy Goodman and I had to run for my life."

I also love the contrast between Luke in confrontation mode and Luke in getting around the cops mode. In the latter, he demands respect and gets offended easily, but when he gets the New World Order in his sights, it's "You're CFR scum, national sovereignty will prevail, etc."

The best part of the film undoubtedly is where the Truthers get to experience a little of their own, with chants of "A--Hole!" as they march. So much for all the cops in New York agree with us claims that Alex likes to make.

We get to see the big triumph of 2007 for the Troofers, when they saw that Geraldo Rivera was going live and chanted the Truther mantra over and over and over again. Geraldo says at one point that "When we come back we'll take you into the secret world of restroom gay sex, and I think these demonstrators are all into restroom gay sex." Jones gets hold of a bullhorn, and starts the chant, but now job is pronounced "jo-ob". Then Geraldo flips them the bird and calls them the "one of the least attractive demonstrator groups I've ever seen."

It's moments like that which makes me realize that perhaps Alex doesn't forget about entertaining us debunkers as well with his videos. Thanks Alex!

Near the end is Alex getting busted at that Geraldo bit of hecklivism. On the show the other day he was claiming how he wasn't going to even be in the movie, but then he got busted. Well, he gets some good facetime, now that they "had" to include him. He tries to paint a big smiley face on the 2007 anniversary fiasco, but sometimes the camera can't help showing the real picture:

And of course we all remember the pleas from Luke and the boys to please buy their tee shirts because they didn't want to be stuck with them. Luke mentions that all the "profits" from ChangeFest 2007 were donated to the Fealgood Foundatation; as usual we never hear what that actual amount was.

At 1:43:46 we get a brief bit of the Truthers doing some New World Order signal:

What the heck is that? Remember these are people who go all freakazoid when they see President Bush giving the "hook-em horns" signal, and suddenly they're doing it? Update: Later view shows it to be the peace sign. What they don't know the peace sign was patented by Monsanto in 1957?

We get the disgusting bit of Sabrina and Luke pretending to be family members to do a bit of hecklivism on Giuliani at Ground Zero. Definitely the lowpoint of the film for the Troofers. Sabrina is not a family member; her former boyfriend's father died in the towers.

Tony-Award Winning Nutbar Christine Ebersole gets the "Deep Thoughts" award for this observation:

"Authority is not truth. And we can look to the laws of the universe for truth. The laws of mathematics, the laws of physics, the laws of logic, the laws of chemistry, the laws of engineering, these are laws that God created that are supported by the universe. And we look to that truth to find the answers about what happened on 9-11."

Who says that all actresses are airheaded blondes in leopard-skin wraps? Alex plays some really martial-sounding music as Ebersole rants on and on; it's actually another funny bit.

More noticeable than what's in the movie is what's not in it. No DRG, no Dylan, Korey or Jason (except maybe briefly in 2006 anniversary footage). No Steven Jones, no Kevin Ryan. Indeed the only "evidence" guy they present in the whole film is Box Boy, Richard Gage.

I applaud the focus on air quality issues, but not the hyperbole. Jones claims at one point that 50,000 first responders are dying; that's an absurd number. Give us a hint, Alex, are 50,000 going to die over the next 10 years? That would be 13 a day. Even over the next 30 years it would be 4 a day; yet we see nothing like that, right?

The film is entertaining in parts, and since it's devoted to the "Troofers" themselves and mostly steers away from evidence it might get some fans in the community. However it skips over the 11th of the month demonstrations, which I have to admit has been one of the more successful innovations that the goofs have come up with recently, and focuses almost solely on New York and Rudkowski. It very much has the feel of a retreat towards the softer 9-11 issues. Zero discussion of the Pentagon, zero discussion of Shanksville.

More evidence that we're winning, I call it.

Why, Indeed, Does the Baloney Avoid the Grinder?

Because when it doesn't it ends up looking as silly as Richard Gage does, with his boxes analogy:

The Hardfire debate between Mark Roberts, who has apparently entered the New World Order debunker relocation program, now sporting a beard, and Richard Gage is now up. These Are the People You are Accusing: Part IV

I wasn't going to do any more excerpts, I don't want to push the spirit of fair use too far, but this was requested by a reader. From page 401 of Firefight:

Whitworth had positioned himself at the edge of the punch-out hole to eyeball everything searchers were hauling out. Hill walked by with square object, blackened with soot, headed for the bin, when he stopped her. "Hey, gimmee that," he said, pulling the burnt object out of her hands.

The device was roughly the size of a shoe box, melted on one end. It was ashen-colored and looked nothing like the pictures of the black boxes- which were orange- but Whitworth could tell that it wasn't part of the building. "We need to let the NTSB look at this," he declared.

Whitworth found one of the NTSB analysts. "Oh fuck," she groaned when she looked at the mangled device. She identified it as the airplane's cockpit voice recorder, which captured sounds in the cockpit. It looked to be nearly demolished- there was a marginal chance they'd be able to get any information from it.

Still it was a breakthrough. Whitworth returned to the punch-out hole a moment later, empty-handed. "Hey, that was a great find," he told Hill. "That was one of the black boxes. Where'd you find it?"

"Right over here," she said, pointing to a stack of jumbled rubble. Searchers formed a circle around the pile and started digging, since the black boxes on 757s were both in the same section of the airplane.

About half an hour later another NTSB expert uncovered a device that looked like it could be the other black box. It turned out to be the flight data recorder, which collected electronic information about the operation of the jet. Both of the black boxes had finally been found, pulled like two broken shells from an ocean of debris.

Troofers Attack Chomsky, Again

Now his linguistics work aside, I personally think Chomsky is a dishonest fool, but I still can't help feel a bit amused that the troofers attack him as a "left gatekeeper". In this case their reasoning is that because a single paper got "published", well actually a nonsensical letter in an obscure publication run out of Pakistan, and even then only after they shelled out $600, that Chomsky should just throw his hands in the air and declare, "You were right, they blew up the towers!"

So Who Wanted That Line in the Film?

Here's a rather interesting revelation from Dylan on the BBC's early broadcast of the collapse of WTC 7:

I put this to the writer and director of Loose Change, Dylan Avery. I asked whether he believed the BBC was part of the conspiracy. Given the question his film had posed about the BBC I was surprised by Dylan's response: "Of course not, that's ludicrous. Why would the BBC be part of it?"

He added candidly: "I didn't really want to put that line in the movie."

Hmmm, didn't the film credits say that it was "writen" by Dylan Avery?

This will presumably be part of the BBC's broadcast of Conspiracy Files: 9-11--The Third Tower, which is being presented on Sunday night in the UK. I highly recommend it to our British readers. The BBC have done excellent work on their Conspiracy Files programs, and I am sure this will be no exception to the rule.

Note: The post also clears up who actually jumped the gun on the WTC-7 collapse story; apparently Reuters was the original source for the story, which the Beeb picked up as did CNN.

Truth Retching Part II

Alex made a comment about how it was going to be "cinema verite", with no narration, but Luke does the narration on this segment about the horrible inconveniences people have to go through because of 9-11. Why, their bags might be searched if they go on the subway! And some group of nutty bicyclists is getting busted! Horrors!

Goofs Go After Obama

No specific 9-11 references in there, but it's the usual gang of idiots: North American Union, CFR, etc. A reminder for liberals (if they needed one) that the Troofers are not their friends.

Reliable Sources

I was at the local Barnes & Noble after work (I know it is hard for you troofers to understand, but this is not my job) and came across Jim Marr's new book, The Rise of the Fourth Reich: The Secret Societies That Threaten to Take Over America, ostensibly a serious look at the evil secret underworld of America.

Now I have no intention of buying this book of course, but I flipped through it for a couple of minutes. I find that the best way to evaluate a book quickly is to look at the footnotes, and see who the author sources. Much to my shock, albeit amusement, I found an entire paragraph devoted to the revelations of none other than Lauro Chavez there on page 358.

Well at least he did his research.

The Evil That is Debunking911.com

This is pure comedy gold, that fact that these people think that a rather mundane website, which could be created by anyone with a copy of HTML for Dummies and a few extra hours per week, is a sign of a massive government operation, is just beyond words.

A website calling itself ‘Debunking 9/11 Conspiracy Theories’ seems to have certain characteristics that look suspiciously like neoconservative propaganda websites. Even the opening background colour is almost identical to the old Project for the New American Century website indicating, perhaps, that the same webmaster is behind this website.

debunking9/11.com is a very sophisticated, extensive and professionally put together website that clearly has had a lot of expensive expertise poured into it. It goes to extraordinary lengths to attempt to debunk the evidence that has presented itself on the internet over the last seven years as an alternative to the US government’s version of the events of 9/11, but – and this is where the site gives itself away – it doesn’t attempt to debunk just some aspects of the new evidence that has been presented, but it tries to debunk every bit of it. It is that characteristic that defines it as a propaganda site rather than a site that is scientifically objective with its arguments.
